3/4/5 Cell Li-Ion / Li-Polymer Battery Protection IC with Temperature Protection

For Power Tools, Robot Cleaners/Mowers, Drones, E-Bikes, Power banks…

Nisshinbo Micro Devices Inc. has launched the R5651, a 3-5 Cell Protection IC targeting Li-Ion / Li-Polymer battery packs for use in applications such as Power Tools, Robot Cleaners/Mowers, Drones, E-bikes, Power banks and so on. The protection IC is designed to monitor the stringent electronic safety measures required for Lithium-Ion / Lithium-Polymer batteries, by monitoring the state of charge and discharge and intervening the process if it exceeds the safety limits of the battery specifications.

The device is designed to monitor 3, 4 or 5 battery cells in series with a single IC, whereas for larger battery packs an additional IC can be connected in cascade to monitor 6 to 10 cells. The simple cascade circuitry helps to minimize the need for external components.
The R5651 has industry leading specifications for high accuracy measurements and low power consumption.

KEY SPECIFICATIONS:
1. Absolute Maximum Ratings (VDD, VCx): 30 V

1/2/3 Cell Li-Ion / Li-Polymer Battery Secondary Protection IC

For Power Tools, Drones, Power banks, Medical Devices…

Nisshinbo Micro Devices Inc. has launched the R5642 secondary protection IC, designed to use in Li-Ion / Li-Polymer rechargeable battery packs with one to three cells. The IC features high accuracy overvoltage detection and low current consumption. It is targeted for use in applications such as Power Tools, Drones, Power banks, Medical devices and other portable applications with a multi-cell battery pack which require additional safety measures for enhanced reliability.

In recent years, the number of applications using high energy density Li-Ion batteries has increased significantly. In addition, specific applications need to comply to higher safety standards, and therefore secondary protection ICs were developed to provide an additional safety level for Li-Ion batteries in case the primary protection circuit fails.
